The Spiral is a Spiritualized Circle
Colin Hunt was born in New York, New York and lives and works in Brooklyn. He received his BFA from The Cooper Union and his MFA from Columbia University. Highlights of New York exhibitions include: Artist’s Space, White Columns, ZieherSmith, the Brooklyn Museum, and the National Academy of Design.Hunt’s work marks the debut of the Willa’s Room Paintings, a trompe l’oeil meditation on memory, loss and the quotidian sublime of a life that is gone.
The creations of these paintings are an analogous process of memory’s construction through a spiraled pattern. In the illusion of the trompe l’oeil, the artist’s experiences are made manifest, they live as a dimensional collage in the room.
He has taught at Columbia University, the Cooper Union and Montclair State University and has been published in Columbia Magazine and The Brooklyn Review.
